Dhaka University (DU) students demanded reasonable rearrangement of the existing quota system in government services before issuing application form for the 28th Bangladesh Civil Service examination on March 30.
"We urge the government to reach a decision about rearrangement of the quota system within March 29.
“Otherwise we will take to the streets to compel the government to meet our demand", KM Salim convenor of quota reforms movement of DU students said at a press conference Sunday.
The press conference was organised in the morning at Dhaka University Journalist Association (DUJA) office where a large number of students were present.
KM Salim read out the written speech at the press conference and convenor of Nirjaton Protirodh Chhatra Andalon (NPCA) Golam Azam Khomeni Ihsan answered to different questions of journalists.
The students said they would conduct more forceful programmes until the 'illogical' quota system is rearranged in a logical way.
They also urged the government to implement the recommendations placed by the study group headed by the chairman of Regulatory Reforms Commission (RRC) Dr Akbar Ali Khan immediately.
They, however, postponed their action programme till April 10 considering the 44th convocation of DU on April 7 and arrival of Chief Adviser on the campus on April 10 to help the university administration.
