"The [Cricket] World Cup is over. Our leader has returned home from Saudi Arabia. There'll be a standing committee meeting and we'll finalise the programmes in it," he told reporters at the Shahjalal International Airport Sunday. Asked what might be the programmes, he said: "Hartal (general strike) might also be there as the government has failed on all fronts to run the country properly. People have got fed-up with its misrule. So, there is no alternative to movement." He said: "Our leader [Khaleda] had said that she would announce programmes to intensify the ongoing anti-government campaign and she was back home now." Before going to Saudi Arabia, Khaleda had told a rally of lawyers that they would wage a movement to force the government to step down paving the path for a midterm election.
