Deep depression crosses north Andhra coast

Saturday, 23 June 2007

The monsoon deep depression moved west-northwestwards and crossed north Andhra coast near Machilipatnam at 12 noon Friday and centred as a land depression over Andhra Pradesh and adjoining area, reports UNB.
It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction further and weaken gradually, said a Met office bulletin Friday.
Under its influence steep pressure gradient persists over north Bay. Squally weather may affect the ports.
Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three. All fishing boats and trawlers over North Bay have been advised to keep close to the coast until further notice.
