Monday, 2 March 2009
Common people, politicians and professionals of the northern districts Sunday termed the Pilkhana massacre as deep-rooted and pre-planned conspiracy against the country, its independence, sovereignty and the patriotic armed forces, reports BSS.
They asked the people to remain united under the leadership of the present government led by Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina to find out the conspiracy behind the unprecedented barbaric killings.
They said this at series of mourning meetings organised by different political parties, socio-cultural and professional organisations in Rangpur and adjoining northern districts to pay due respect to the martyred army officials killed at Dhaka on February 25 and 26.
The National flag was hoisted at half-mast atop all government, semi- government, autonomous offices, private buildings, educational institutions and offices of different professional organisations on the concluding day of the 3-day National Mourning today.
Special prayers were also offered seeking divine blessings and eternal peace for the departed souls of the army officials killed at Pilkhana BDR headquarters.
Similar feelings were expressed at the mourning meetings in the adjoining northern districts of Panchagarh, Thakurgaon, Dinajpur, Joypurhat, Naogaon, Gaibandha, Lalmonirhat, Nilphamari and Kurigram in the concluding day of National Mourning.
