Defamation case against Syed Ashraf dismissed

A court in Bogra on Tuesday dismissed a defamation case lodged against Awami League General Secretary Syed Ashraful Islam for his derogatory remarks against US Assistant Secretary of State for South and Central Asia Nisha Desai Biswal. Judge of the Senior Judicial Magistrate Court-1 Abul Kalam Azad passed the order hours after the case was filed. Earlier, Jahangir Alam, former general secretary of Rajshahi Government City College Chhatra Sangsad, filed the case with the court in the morning, according to a news agency.
