Defence lawyers cross-examine 6th witness

The sixth prosecution witness Maj Rezaul Mostafa Mohammad Asadullah was testified Wednesday in the Pilkhana killing case, reports BSS. Defence lawyers cross-examined Maj Rezaul, a witness to the killing of army officials at BDR Headquar-ters (now Border Guard Bangladesh-BGB) in Pilkhana in 2009, at the makeshift court set up at a field adjacent to Alia Madrasah at Bakshi Bazar here. District and Sessions Judge's Court recorded the statement of Maj Reza and adjourned the court fixing November 30 for the next hearing. The defence lawyers have already cross-examined first prosecution witness and complainant of the case, Nabojoti Khisha, second witness Md Kamal Uddin, officer-in-charge of New Market police station, and third witness Lt Col Abu Tasleem, fourth witness Col Mohammad Shamsul Alam and fifth witness Lt Col Mukim Sarker. Some 827 accused, including former BNP lawmaker Nasiruddin Ahmed Pintu in the case, were produced before the court amid tight security. A total of 74 people, including 57 army officials, were killed in the February 25-26, 2009 carnage inside the then BDR (now BGB) headquarters at Pilkhana in the capital. On March 1, 2009, a case was lodged against more than 1,000 BDR members for their alleged involvement in the killing, looting, torching, and firing gunshots during the carnage.
