Delwar slams govt on Coco
Tuesday, 2 November 2010
BNP Secretary General Khandaker Delwar Hossain has claimed that the arrest warrant against Arafat Rahman Coco shows that the ruling party is overly eager to put him behind bars.
"Despite numerous cases, yet to be resolved, the government is specifically interested in Coco's money laundering case," he said at a press briefing at the party's Naya Paltan office in the city Monday, reports bdnews24.com.
A Dhaka court Sunday issued arrest warrant against Coco, younger son of BNP Chairperson Khaleda Zia.
The leader alleged that it was a sign of partisanship by the ruling party that stopped all the possible ways for a fair trial.
"The ruling party is withdrawing all cases against their leaders and activists, while it is filing cases one after another against opposition activists", Delwar said. "It is undemocratic", he added.
