Delwar still doubtful about next polls

BNP secretary general Khondoker Delwar Hossain said Wednesday that confusion still exists in their minds over the next elections, reports UNB.
"We are doubtful, and people are also doubtful," he told the journalists at the party central office in the city's Naya Paltan area.
Delwar said the Election Commission (EC) had wasted the past six months only to determine the mainstream of the BNP.
"Time is limited but they have taken so many tasks in their hands that it has further complicated the election process," he said. "So, doubts have surfaced about the election roadmap. People are also confused if the commission will be able to hold the election within the remaining time."
The EC had pledged that it would prepare the voter list by October, but "we don't see any indication that it (voter list) would be published by this month," the BNP secretary general said.
As the BNP and its political allies are set to hold dialogue with the EC Saturday, Delwar said: "We'll discuss issues such as voter list, Representation of the People Order and Registration of the political parties, and ways of holding a free and fair election."
He added: "We'll go there (EC) to ask for not to hold upazila elections before the national polls."
Meanwhile, BNP chairperson's adviser Brig Gen (retd) ASM Hannan Shah told the newsmen at his Mohakhali DOHS residence that Khaleda Zia wants to add some new faces to the party ranks to make the party stronger.
As Hannan Shah met BNP chairperson Khaleda Zia Tuesday night, he said quoting Khaleda Zia that she would need some time to reorganise the party as it faced some serious troubles in the recent past.
