Delwar urges PM to withdraw her remarks against Khaleda

Monday, 13 December 2010

BNP secretary general Khandaker Delwar Hossain Sunday urged the Prime Minister to withdraw her 'unparliamentary and untrue' statement against the leader of the opposition for the sake of democracy and keeping the opposition in parliament, report agencies.
Mr Khandaker made the appeal while speaking at a rally organised by Jatiyatabadi Shechchhasebok Dal to protest Sheikh Hasina's 'indecorous and untrue' remarks in parliament against Khaleda Zia at the city's Muktangon area Sunday.
Presided over by Shechchhasebak Dal president Habib-un-Nabi Khan Sohel, the rally was also addressed, among others, by Barrister Rafiqul Islam Mia, Amanullah Aman, Fazlul Huq Milon, Elias Ali, Abdus Salam, Shirin Sultana, Mir Sarfat Ali Sapu and Shafiul Bari Babu.
"If she (Hasina) does not do that I would urge the Speaker to expunge the PM's unparliamentary and untrue statements from the parliament proceedingsā€, said the BNP Secretary General.
Khandaker Delwar said if the Speaker does not do it as he belongs to the ruling party, he questioned whether it would be wise for the Speaker to hold that chair following the rules of procedure of parliament.
Following the PM's statement, he said the people are doubtful about the future of democracy.
