Demand-based education for skilled manpower stressed

Education Minister Nurul Islam Nahid, MP Tuesday stressed the need for introducing demand-based vocational education to create skilled manpower. The education minister said this at a discussion on "Implementation of National Education Policy 2010 and its Challenges and Way Forward" at the CIRDAP Auditorium in the city Tuesday, reports BSS. Campaign for Popular Education (CAMPE) organised the discussion with the assistance of Civil Society Education Fund (CSEF). Chaired by CAMPE Executive Director and Member Secretary of Education Watch Rasheda K Chowdhury, the function was addressed, among others, by member of Education Policy Implementation Committee Principal Kazi Faruque Ahmed, chairman of Governing Council of Dhaka School of Economics and Palli Karma Sahayak Foundation (PKSF) Dr Qazi Kholiquzzaman Ahmad and chairman of Parliamentary Standing Committee on the Ministry of Primary and Mass Education Momtaz Begum. "We are contemplating preparation of a syllabus for introducing demand-based technical education programme for creating human resources to meet the requirements of job providers at home and abroad," the minister said.
