Demand for Blenders slightly improves
Thursday, 1 July 2010
The weekly tea sale Tuesday was marked by slightly improved demand following more competition from both Blenders and the Loose Tea buyers.
Good liquoring varieties continued to receive good support from the Blenders. As a result, prices of such varieties were fully firm to occasionally dearer.
Dusts were a lower market following less competition.
CTC LEAF: 19,613 packages and 575 packages of Old Season on offer met with a strong demand at mostly firm rates.
BROKENS: Good liquoring Brokens particularly the smaller types met with strong demand and were firm to slightly dearer, quoted between Tk 216 and Tk 220. Others sold well and were mostly firm. Plainer sorts were slightly easier.
FANNINGS: Good liquoring Fannings had a stronger market and were firm to slightly dearer following competition. These were sold between Tk 215 and Tk 220. Plainer varieties eased slightly.
CTC DUST: 3,590 and 26 packages of Old Season on offer met with less demand at easier rates. RDs/PDs/Ds eased by up to Tk 5 and sometimes more whilst CDs were easier by up to Tk 10 and sometimes more. Both Blenders and Loose Tea buyers lent less support.
