Demand for good liquoring dusts

Friday, 27 November 2009

Demand was stronger last week, which was maintained throughout the sale whereby all good liquoring types especially the best on offer were dearer often selling at over Tk 150 per kg. Blenders provided strong support with more interest from the loose tea buyers. There was only some interest from Pakistan.
Good liquoring dusts had a dearer market following strong competition.
Ctc Leaf: 28,943 packages and 21 packages of old season on offer continued to meet with a stronger demand at mostly higher rates.
Brokens: Well-made good liquoring brokens had been a very strong feature and were often dearer by Tk 3.0 to Tk 5.0 and these sold between Tk 145 and Tk 152. Other types were also dearer by Tk.2.0 to Tk 3.0.
Fannings: Well made good liquoring fannings were very strongly competed for and were dearer by up to Tk 3.0 and these could be quoted between Tk 145 and Tk 150. Other varieties had also a stronger market and were generally dearer by Tk 2.0 to Tk 3.0. Plain, poor types were slightly dearer with some withdrawals.
Ctc dust: 4,830 packages on offer met with a strong demand. Well-made good liquoring varieties were keenly competed for and were dearer by up to Tk 5.0 and sometimes more.
Most others sold at around last levels with the plainer varieties easing slightly in line with quality. Blenders lent good support with fair interest from the loose tea buyers. There was also selective export enquiry for the best liquoring varieties.
