Demand for the newly introduced Mother-Daughter CNG stations has lately experienced a boom in the country's northwestern region, according to the industry insiders, signaling a permanent solution to the fueling of CNG-run vehicles in energy hungry parts of the country.
During the recently held International CNG Exhibition in the city, big names in the country's energy sector have received overwhelming response from visitors from outside the capital who identified the new technology as an effective remedy for the shortage or unavailability of CNG stations in certain regions of Bangladesh.
Intraco, that is one of the pioneers of the Mother-Daughter CNG stations in the country, said it has received commitments from at least 56 clients in the first three days of the fair, who are keenly interested in applying the new solution.
In a Mother-Daughter CNG station system, the mother station can send its storage CNG cylinders to daughter station by filling the cylinders at their own filling stations.
The method is perceived to be an effective solution to the insufficient gas reserve in the country, industry insiders observed, as through such system, CNG-run vehicles would be supplied with a guaranteed source of fuel from any part of the country.
"Apart from that, the use of Mother-Daughter method lessens the operational cost and other expenses significantly", said an official of Intraco adding "whereas, it requires an investment of around Tk. 25 million to Tk 30 million to set up a full-fledged CNG station. The investment required for a Mother-Daughter station is only Tk. 6.0 million".
