Democracy and discipline for national development
Monday, 17 November 2008
THE whole nation now looks forward to the next national election to restore democracy. We want democracy but at the same time we want to see the nation more disciplined. Public security and safety can not be compromised for the sake of election.
It is true that accelerated national development will not be possible without a democratically elected government but it is also true that people want to see the big political parties depend on the people, not on the cadres and hoodlums. It is time to initiate a fresh start of political activities and I believe nobody other than Sk. Hasina and Khaleda Zia can do this in the best possible manner.
When the said two leaders were in jail, their relatives and cadres went to underground. It was the general public who stood beside them and demanded their release. Enough is enough, the two leaders should now do something really good for the people. History will remember them. They should lead their parties in line with the desire of the people so that democracy and discipline run hand in hand.
