DEMU train launched on CU route

CHITTAGONG, June 5 (BSS): The Bangladesh Railway (BR) authority today launched DEMU (Diesel Electric Multiple Units) train service on Chittagong city-Chittagong University (CU) route for the teachers, officials, employees and students of CU.
CU pro-vice chancellor Prof Dr Iftekhar Uddin Chowdhury formally inaugurated the DEMU train service at city's Sholoshahar Railway Station this morning.
Officials of CU and BR, among others, were present during the inaugural function.
A DEMU is a multiple unit train consisting of multiple carriages powered by one or more on-board diesel engines.
Railway sources said a set of DEMU train could carry a total of 300 passengers at a time which can run at a speed of 60 kilometers per hour.
