Dengue cases rise as 14 hospitalised in 24 hrs

Dengue cases in the country have shown an upward trend in recent days as 14 new patients were hospitalised in the past 24 hours till Saturday morning.
With the new cases, the total number of patients this year reached 1,080, according to the regular health bulletin issued by the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
The data available with the DGHS also revealed that 103 cases were reported in the last week till Saturday, whereas the figure was 56 in the previous week.
Of the latest 14 cases, 13 were admitted to Dhaka city hospitals while the only patient outside Dhaka city was admitted to a health facility in Cox's Bazar.
Currently, 85 people are getting treatment at different hospitals across the country - 68 in Dhaka city and the remaining 17 in hospitals elsewhere.
According to the official figures, some nine and four patients were hospitalised on Thursday and Friday.
However, the country witnessed an increased number of patients between May 1 and 3 when twenty-four, twenty-seven and sixteen patients, respectively, were hospitalised with the mosquito borne disease.
The deadly disease also claimed 11 lives in the country - two in May, six in January, and three in February.
