Dengue claims 15 more lives

Fifteen more people died in the deadly dengue fever over the past 24 hours till Tuesday morning, with five of the fatalities having occurred in Dhaka.
This unfortunate surge brings the total death count to a staggering 943, with Dhaka alone accounting for 617 of the deaths, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
In addition to the rising death toll, the DGHS has recorded 3,123 new cases hospitalised nationwide during the same timeframe.
Among these, 774 cases were reported in Dhaka. These figures paint a distressing picture of the worsening dengue situation, marked by a growing number of fatalities and infections.
Health authorities are particularly concerned about the expanding footprint of dengue, as new cases are now emerging outside of Dhaka.
The DGHS has reported 2,349 new hospitalised patients outside of Dhaka.
It is estimated that the mortality rate among hospitalised patients currently stands at approximately 0.5 per cent.
To provide context, last year saw 281 dengue-related deaths, making it the second-highest death toll in the country's history.
Moreover, the total number of dengue cases has surged to 193,881, with Dhaka alone accounting for a significant portion at 80,490 cases, reported the DGHS.
Breaking down the data, within Dhaka, there were 46,237 male patients and 34,253 female patients. Outside the capital city, there were 71,851 male patients and 41,540 female patients.
Currently, there are 10,156 patients under medical care in hospitals nationwide, with 3,581 of them in Dhaka.
As many as 182,782 cases, including Dhaka's 76,292, have successfully recovered and returned home.
