Dengue claims eight more lives

The health authorities on Tuesday reported eight more deaths from dengue which took the total fatalities to 1,425 this year.
Of the new fatalities, three were reported from outside Dhaka and five from Dhaka.
Of the total deaths, 844 were from Dhaka, according to the Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS).
Meanwhile, 1,895 more people were admitted to hospitals due to the mosquito-borne disease in 24 hours till 8:00 am on Tuesday, including 394 in Dhaka, said DGHS in its daily update.
The total dengue cases this year rose to 283,593. Of the total, 101,961 were reported from Dhaka, according to DGHS daily update.
Fatalities and hospitalisations due to the deadly mosquito-borne disease are highest in the last 23 years in the country.
A total of 6,555 people were being treated across the country in hospitals. Of them, 1,722 were from Dhaka.
Of the total admitted, 275,613 patients made recovery and returned home, including 99,395 from Dhaka with a 97 per cent recovery rate on average.
Last year, 281 people died due to dengue, the second highest in the history of the country.
