No new deaths from COVID-19 were reported, keeping the country's total death toll from the virus at 29,527 since the pandemic began in March 2020.
Meanwhile, dengue continues to pose a more acute public health threat, with 444 new hospitalisations recorded across the country in the last 24 hours. Among the latest dengue victims was an 11-year-old boy from Syedpur who died at Dhaka Medical College Hospital.
The other deceased include a 50-year-old man from Khilgaon who died at Mugda Hospital, and a resident of Donia in Jatrabari who died at Popular Medical College Hospital.
The total number of dengue hospitalisations this year has now reached 18,026, with July alone accounting for 7,730 cases-the highest monthly count so far. So far in July, 23 people have died from the mosquito-borne disease, surpassing the monthly tolls of 19 in June, 10 in January, three in February, seven in April, and three in May. No deaths were reported in March.
The DGHS urges citizens to take preventive measures against both COVID-19 and dengue.
