Dengue situation deteriorating, two more die

Dengue situation in the country is deteriorating as the viral disease claimed two more lives in the 24 hours concluded until Tuesday morning. On Monday the death toll was four.
Besides, 353 dengue patients were also hospitalised across the country in the period, which is the second single-day highest of the calendar year.
Taking the latest daily counts into account, total fatalities from the disease reached to 39 while the hospitalised cases reached to 9,448 this year. The country recorded highest single-day in the year, 360 hospitalised dengue patients on Sunday (Sept 11), while Monday logged 345 hospitalised cases and four deaths.
Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS), in its regular bulletin said 238 patients were hospitalised in Dhaka city and 115 were taken to healthcare facilities in other regions.
Among the 238 patients admitted to hospitals in Dhaka city, 117 were taken to private and 121 in public sector healthcare facilities.
Dhaka division -- excluding Dhaka city -- logged 16 cases, Chattogram 53, Khulna 16, Rajshahi three, Rangpur three, barishal 15 and Mymensingha nine cases.
