Dengue situation improving as only one more dies

The dengue situation was showing a sign of improvement as a single death was reported in the last 24 hours until Saturday morning. During the period 605 patients were hospitalised with the disease.
With the latest daily count, the death toll from the disease caused by a mosquito-borne virus reached 1,629 and the total cases of hospitalisation hit 312,964 this year.
The Directorate General of Health Services (DGHS) disclosed the figures in its daily bulletin on Saturday.
Of the new cases of hospitalisation, 139 were logged in Dhaka city and the remaining 466 were reported from outside the capital city.
Hospitals in Dhaka division, except those in the capital city, reported 101 dengue cases while Chattogram recorded 70, Khulna 150, Rajshahi 48, Rangpur 14, Barishal 76 and Mymensingha 70.
According to the DGHS, the country recorded six and seven deaths from the disease on Friday and Thursday respectively indicating an improvement.
A total of 468 patients were hospitalised on Friday and 877 on Thursday.
Since September last the daily death toll and the cases of hospitalisation have been declining, though slowly.
The country witnessed 396 deaths in September, 359 in October, and 274 in November.
