Depression over W Bengal moves westwards

Sunday, 8 July 2007

The land depression over West Bengal and adjoining area moved westwards and was lying over Bihar and adjoining area as a land depression Saturday noon. It is likely to move in a northwesterly direction further through land. "Steep pressure gradient persists over north Bay and squally weather may continue over the ports," said a special bulletin of the Met Office. Maritime ports of Chittagong, Cox's Bazar and Mongla have been advised to keep hoisted local cautionary signal number three. All fishing-boats and trawlers over the North Bay have been advised to remain in shelter until further notice. —UNB
