Derailment halts Ctg-Dhaka-Sylhet train services

Train communications of Chittagong with Dhaka and Sylhet remained suspended as a freight train bogie derailed in Gangasagar area of Akhaura upazila on Sunday evening. Sources at Akhaura Railway Station said two wheels of the bogie of the Dhaka-bound train veered off the tracks in the area around 6pm. The accident halted train services on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes. On information, a salvage train from Akhaura rushed to the spot to clear the tracks, the sources added. Several trains got stranded at stations on both sides due the accident, according to a news agency.
