DESA takes action against 12 staffers

The Dhaka Electric Supply Authority (DESA) took disciplinary actions against 12 of its employees and officials on different charges, DESA press release said.
It suspended two employees for their involvement in misappropriation of money worth Tk 0.66 million.
The DESA press release said the employees misappropriated the amount under Motijheel circle through showing 'fake bills' instead of actual bills.
The temporary suspended employees are Md Abu Khaled, data entry control operator and Mustafizur Rahman lower division assistant-cum-typist.
It also suspended two employees who were appointed on master rolls.
They are dispatch rider Shamaun Sarkar and an assistant Uttam Kumar Saha.
Besides, the DESA filed cases with Gulshan police station against four more of its employees for embezzlement of money.
Apart from this, the DESA took disciplinary actions against four more officials for their involvement in different financial discrepancies.
DESA press release said that the officials were accused of issuing bills without showing arrears and different mismatches in ledgers.
However, it stopped three annual increments of Md Abdur Rashid, programmer and Proful Kumar Sarkar senior computer operator for their involvement in issuing bills without showing arrears.
DESA also sent Imam Hossian Sarkar, assistant engineer into forced retirement and demoted Kanchan Ali Akhand, senior data entry control operator.
