Dev must be coherent with environment: PM

Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday urged all to be environment friendly saying, no development would be sustainable without coherence with environment. “We have to undertake a sustainable development plan to provide food and shelter for increasing population and face onslaught of climate change to achieve our mid and long-term goals for nation’s prosperity,” she said while addressing the officials of the Ministry of Environment and Forests during her visit to the ministry at Bangladesh Secretariat. The Prime Minister said rivers, lands and environment by no means could be polluted by industrial wastages. “No development jeopardising the environment will sustain,” she added. The visit was a part of the Prime Minister’s plan to visit every ministry one after another to share her personal opinions, exchange views with the officials and bring dynamism in the activities of the ministries, according to BSS.
