Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina on Thursday sought more financial assistance and investment from the developed countries for further uplift of Bangladesh. ‘We need more financial help and investment from the developed nations for further uplift of Bangladesh,’ she said when outgoing French Ambassador to Bangladesh Michelle Trinquier called on her at her office in the morning. After the meeting, PM’s Press Secretary AKM Shameem Chowdhury briefed reporters. He said the Prime Minister highlighted different development activities taken by her government. Sheikh Hasina said her government has created a fund of US Dollar 385 million from its own resources to save the country from the adverse impact of climate change. In this connection, the Prime Minister called upon the developed countries to release their pledged financial assistance for the climate vulnerable countries. The French ambassador highly appreciated Bangladesh's firm stance on climate change and leadership role of PM Hasina in this regard on the world stage. Trinquier also lauded Bangladesh's stunning success in different fields including education and millennium development goals, according to a news agency.
