Dhaka Abahani finish runners-up

Dhaka Abahani Ltd finished runners-up in the Nitol-Tata Bangladesh Premier Football League beating Chittagong Abahani Ltd by a solitary goal in their last match at MA Aziz Stadium in Chittagong on Wednesday, reports UNB.
With the day's outcome, Dhaka Abahani secured 52 points from all the 27 matches to be runners-up with 14 wins, 10 draws and three defeats while Chittagong Abahani Limited was placed 8th in the 10-team fray collecting 25 points playing all the league encounters.
Earlier, Sheikh Jamal Dhanmondi Club clinched the league title with two matches to spare.
After a barren first half in the day's match, defender Atikur Rahman Meshu scored the match-winning goal for Dhaka Abahani in the 60th minute of the match.
In another match on Wednesday, Team BJMC upset Brothers Union Club beating them by 2-1 goals at the Bangabandhu National Stadium.
With this win, Team BJMC finished 7th securing 30 points while Brothers Union was placed 5th bagging 38 points.
Nigerian midfielder Samson Iliyasu put BJMC ahead in the 9th minute by a powerful shot off a Navid Newaz Jibon pass (1-0).
Shafiqul Islam levelled the margin for Brothers Union in the 29th minute by a placing shot from a close distance capitalising on Faisal Mahmood cross from the right flank (1-1).
In the 39th minute, Guinean forward Ismael Bangoura scored the match winning goal for Team BJMC by a right footer after being fed by Jibon from the midfield (2-1).
