Dhaka bags $0.4m export orders at Hong Kong fair

Bangladeshi handicrafts and house ware producers bagged export orders worth US$0.4 million in the Hong Kong House Fair and International Home Textile Fair 2010.
Eleven Bangladeshi companies have also secured prospective orders worth $ 0.5 million, said a press release.
The participants exhibited a large number of handicrafts and house ware products-jute bags, hogla baskets, cane baskets, candles, hammocks, nets, terra cotta wares, cushion and bed covers, quilts, door mats, curtains, gardening products, jute handicrafts, Christmas decoration items, T-shirts, fatua and kamiz-under the umbrella of the Bangladesh Export Promotion Bureau.
The four-day long trade fair was held from April 20 to 23 at Hong Kong Convention and Exhibition Centre in Hong Kong.
Around 35 countries, including Bangladesh and host Hong Kong took part in the fair.
On the sidelines of the fair, a number of one-to-one business meeting were held between Bangladeshi companies and potential importers or buyers from Hong Kong, China, South Korea, Japan, Australia, New Zealand, Taiwan, Indonesia, Switzerland, Turkey, Canada and USA.
