Dhaka Bank and Visa launch co-branded debit card for WeGro farmers

Dhaka Bank PLC and Visa launched a co-branded debit card for WeGro farmers at the WeGro & iPAGE Farmers' Meet at Satiantola in Bogura recently, says a press release.
At the meeting, the representatives of Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC) met with farmers working with WeGro Technologies Limited and iPAGE Global Inc.
With this card, WeGro farmers can have access to loans from Dhaka Bank and purchase essential inputs such as seeds and fertilisers from the input centres around them. This card is a milestone towards the digitisation of financial services for farmers in Bangladesh, especially in rural areas where farmers are doing cashless transactions.
Officials of Dhaka Bank and Visa were present at the meeting. The Dhaka Bank team opened bank accounts for a few farmers within a very short time and also issued co-branded debit visa card.
Rosenthaler, Head of Section Asia; Markus Baechler, Programme Manager; Rebecca Bucherer, Thematic Regional Adviser - PSE and Inclusive Development; Ameena Chowdhury, Programme Manager, and Syeda Zinia Rashid, Senior Programme Officer, from the Embassy of Switzerland; HM Mostafizur Rahaman, Executive Vice President & Head of Retail Business, and Md Katebur Rahman, Senior Vice President & Head of Agriculture Banking Unit, Dhaka Bank, and Siraj Siddiquey Shakil, Director of Product and Solution at Visa South Asia, were present at the meeting.
