Dhaka, Chittagong stocks rise

The Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) and the Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) opened higher on Monday after previous day's sharp fall, the second trading session of the week.
DSEX, the prime index of the DSE, went up by 39.34 points or 0.83 per cent to 4,767.47, after the first 30 minutes of the trade when the report was filed at 11:00am. The two other indices also saw positive trend. The DS30 index, comprising blue chips, gained 14.99 points or 0.84 per cent to 1,809.69. The DSE Shariah Index (DSES) rose 7.61 points or 0.67 per cent to reach 1,143.41. DSE turnover stood at Tk426 million when the report was filed. Of the issues traded till then, 169 advanced, 32 declined and 29 remained unchanged.
Brac Bank was the most traded stocks till then with shares worth Tk 44 million changing hands followed by Trust Bank, Mozaffar Hossain Spinning Mills, City Bank and Lafarge Surma Cement.
The port city bourse – CSE - also saw upward trend in early hour today with its Selective Category Index -- CSCX – gaining 47.57 points to stand at 8,851.85, also at 11:00am. Of the issues traded till then, 64 gained, 17 declined and 4 remained unchanged with a turnover value of Tk25 million.
