Dhaka city corpns get Tk 150m to combat dengue

The government has allocated Tk 150 million to the bifurcated city corporations of Dhaka in an effort to stave off the mosquito-borne dengue disease in the capital, reports bdnews24.com.
Local Government, Rural Development and Cooperatives Minister Tajul Islam announced the decision in a meeting with the leaders of the Climate Change Journalist's Forum at the Secretariat on Wednesday.
The two city corporations will receive Tk 75 million each said the minister, adding, "The funds that have been allocated will go towards the fight against dengue. A different allocation has been made and sent to the other city corporations."
The government has allotted a total Tk 210 million to city corporations and Tk 300 million to municipalities, said Tajul.
Highlighting the increased number of transports around the country ahead of Eid, the minister said insecticides will be sprayed in all buses, trains and launches in an effort to stop the dengue-carrying aedes mosquitoes from spreading the disease across districts.
