Dhaka Club elects Tanveer President

Tanveer Muzhar Islam (Tanna) was elected President of Dhaka Club for the term of 2011-2012 at the annual election of the Club, according to a press release. The election was held at the annual general meeting (AGM) of the club on its premises recently. Among two presidential candidates, Mr Tanna polled 603 votes against 364 by his nearest rival Mr Sadat Hossain Salim who contested for the office of the president for the fifth term. Mr Tanna is an eminent sports organiser and also the director of Aqua Mineral Turpentine and Solvents Plants Ltd. A 10-member executive committee was also elected by the life and permanent members of the Club. They are: Noab Talukder, Syed Sheikhul Arefeen, Tulu Kalimullah, Ahmed Askari, Nurul Islam Khan (Akkas Khan), Md Ishtiaque Hussain Hidi, BP, Nawzia Islam (Rasha), Gazi Helal Uddin Ahmed, ASM Ali Khabir Chand and M Rafiqul Haque Rabi.
