Dhaka College, Ideal College students clash at Science Lab
Traffic comes to a standstill

Students of Dhaka College and Ideal College locked in a clash in Science Laboratory area of the city on Tuesday over a trifling matter creating a massive traffic disorder across the neighbourhood.
During the mayhem, vehicular movement came to a standstill on the road from Science Laboratory to Nilkhet intersection for about one and a half hours in the afternoon.
Mohammad Mohsin, officer-in-charge of New Market Police Station, told the media that he heard there was a tussle between the first-year students and seniors over some issue which led to a clash between the two colleges.
The situation came under control at around 3:30 pm; but there was still prevailing an unusual calm, he added.
Around 2:00 pm, the students left Ideal College and went to Mirpur Road. The clash started when the students of Dhaka College came out and crossed the Science Laboratory and came to the intersection of City College.
At one point, the students of Dhaka College broke the police barricade and went in front of Ideal College and dismantled the signboard of the college. Both groups threw brick chips at each other, leaving more than a dozen people injured. Witnesses said that some people were injured in the clash but they could not say for sure of which college they (the injured) were.
Tarek Latif, assistant police commissioner of the New Market Zone, told the media at around 4:00 pm that the situation came under control. "We have the army with us. We are working with them," he added.
