Dhaka-Ctg highway blocked over N\\\'ganj panel mayor\\\'s kidnap

Supporters of Narayanganj City Corporation (NCC) panel mayor Nazrul Islam flew into a rage on Dhaka-Chittagong Highway during a demonstration protesting his abduction. They also rampaged through the highway during the agitation, for the 3rd consecutive day, demanding immediate rescue of Nazrul, also a local Awami League leader, and his four associates. The protesters vandalised several vehicles on the highway turning a several-kilometre area of Narayanganj city into a battlefield. Witnesses said several thousand supporters of Nazrul from Ward No. 2 and nearby area under Siddhirganj police station brought out a procession around 9:00am protesting the abduction. Later, they took to the street, staged demonstration torching tyres and put up barricade on the busy highway from Sanarpar to Signboard area, creating a long tailback, causing immense suffering to the passengers. The blockaders were staging demonstration on the highway when this report around 12:40pm. Nazrul, also a leader of the Narayanganj unit of Awami League leader, and his four associates were abducted by unknown criminals in Fatulla on Sunday, according to UNB.
