Chittagong’s rail communications with Dhaka and Sylhet has been restored several hours after the movement of train in the important rail route was suspended following derailment of a train at Sadar upazila in Comilla district on Wednesday night. Masud Sarwar, junior traffic officer of Comilla Railway Station, said two bogies of a Chittagong-bound freight train from Dhaka derailed at Dharmapur in Sadar upazila last night. The cargo train veered off the railway tracks around 11:00am, halting the train service on Chittagong-Dhaka and Chittagong-Sylhet routes since then. On information, a salvage train from Laksam Railway Station arrived at Dharmapur and removed the derailed bogies from the railway tracks in the morning. Movement of train in the rail route resumed after the derailed container carriers were cleared from the tracks, according to a news agency.
