Dhaka-Ctg-Sylhet rail link snapped

Rail communications of Dhaka with Chittagong and Sylhet remained snapped from Wednesday afternoon following the derailment of a freight train in Palash upazila of Narsingdi. Shahjahan, stationmaster of Narsigdi Railway Station, said two bogies of the Chittagong-bound container train from Dhaka veered off the tracks at Baribari in between Ghorashal and Zinardi railway stations around 6pm, halting train communications on Dhaka-Chittagong and Dhaka-Sylhet routes. Several trains remained stuck on both sides of the place of occurrence, causing sufferings to fasting passengers. A relief train went to the spot to salvage the train, according to a news agency.
