Dhaka int'l book fair yet to get momentum

The 15th Dhaka International Book fair is yet to get momentum due to cold weather prevailing for last few days, reports BSS.
The 15-day book fair, which began on December 15 at the central playground of Dhaka University, will end on December 30.
The National Book Centre organised the book fair with the theme - 'Book for Peaceful World'.
The sellers said the fair is yet to draw expected number of visitors because of cold weather.
A total of 3,000 people visited the fair until Monday, according to the statistics available with the ticket counter. The presence of youngsters was quite significant.
Director of National Book Centre Mahmudur Rahman said the genuine book lovers did not miss the fair despite an overall poor turn-out. A total of 150 local and foreign stalls have been set up at the fair.
Besides host Bangladesh, a number of countries, including India, China, Pakistan, Iran and UK are participating in the fair.
Books are being sold at 25 per cent commission to woo the readers to buy more books.
All kinds of books including novel, essay, juvenile literature and science fiction are on display. The fair remains open from 11:00am to 8:00pm everyday, excepting the holidays.
The price of entry ticket is Taka 5 while the school students are allowed to visit the fair free of cost.
