Dhaka issues special alert on Ebola

The government has issued a special alert at immigration centres of all land, air and river ports for the next 90 days to prevent Ebola Virus Diseases (EVD) from getting into Bangladesh.
"Several teams of physicians will work at all air, land and river ports here in line with the directive of World Health Organisation (WHO) as a precautionary measure against EVD outbreak that has already appeared in West Africa," Health and Family Welfare Minister Mohammad Nasim told a press conference after a meeting at Bangladesh Secretariat Sunday, according to a news agency.
He said all passengers entering Bangladesh must face medical checkup, and an action committee, headed by the health secretary, was formed to thwart Ebola.
"Besides, another committee, comprising members of civil aviation
authority and all concerned departments of immigration, has been constituted to monitor the situation in the wake of the spread of the deadly virus.
