Bangladesh and Nepal have agreed to introduce a bus service between Dhaka and Kathmandu, reports BSS.
The decision was taken at a meeting between Road Transport and Bridges Minister of Bangladesh Obaidul Quader and Nepalese Physical Infrastructure and Transport Minister Bimalendra Nidhi in the Nepalese capital of Kathmandu, said a release received in Dhaka on Sunday.
Obaidul Quader is now visiting Nepal.
During the meeting, the two ministers arrived at an agreement for beginning the bus service between Dhaka and Kathmandu. They discussed implementation of Bangladesh-Bhutan-India-Nepal (BBIN) Motor Vehicle Agreement by January next.
The Nepalese minister thanked the Bangladesh Prime Minister for sending relief goods immediately after the recent devastating earthquake in Nepal, the release said.
It said that a car rally would be held between the four countries in October next targeting implementation of the BBIN agreement and a joint-secretary level meeting of the countries would be held in the second week of September in Dhaka to finalise the necessary protocol of the agreement.
Besides, the two ministers decided to advance the SAARC Motor Vehicle Agreement. In this regard, the SAARC Secretariat was going to organise a meeting of the SAARC Transport Ministers in September in Nepal.
