Dhaka keen to join Ganges-Mekong Cooperation Initiative

Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury said Monday Bangladesh wants to join the Ganges-Mekong Cooperation Initiative, comprising India, Myanmar, Thailand, Cambodia, Laos and Vietnam. Iftekhar said this when Vietnam Ambassador Nguen Van That met him at his office. The Foreign Adviser also expressed happiness over the growth of trade by 15 per cent between Bangladesh and Vietnam this year, the current volume being approximately US $75 million. —UNB
