Dhaka, KL to sign 4 instruments during PM\\\'s visit

Bangladesh will seek greater Malaysian investment and increased and speedy manpower recruitment from Bangladesh apart from signing four instruments during Prime Minister Sheikh Hasina's Malaysia visit.
The Prime Minister leaves the city for Malaysia today (Tuesday) on a three-day visit and will have a bilateral meeting with her Malaysian counterpart Najib Razak tomorrow (Wednesday) at Putrajaya, the administrative capital of the Southeast Asian country, reports UNB.
During the meeting, the top leaders of the two countries will discuss ways to strengthen ties in the areas of trade, tourism, culture, human resource development, higher education apart from touching upon regional and international issues of interest, Foreign Minister A H Mahmood Ali told a press conference at his ministry on Monday.
The four deals and MoUs-Protocol Amending the MoU of 2012 between Malaysia and Bangladesh on the 'Employment of Workers', MoU on 'Cooperation in the Field of Tourism', agreement on the 'Partial Abolition of Visa Requirements' and MoU on 'Cultural, Arts and Heritage Cooperation' - are expected to be signed after the bilateral meeting.
Sheikh Hasina will lead a 30-member delegation comprising the Foreign Minister, Expatriates' Welfare and Overseas Employment Minister Engineer Khandker Mosharraf Hossain, Civil Aviation and Tourism Minister Rashed Khan Menon, Cultural Affairs Minister Asaduzzaman Noor, State Minister for Home Asaduzzaman Khan and high government officials.
The PM will also take part in a discussion with Malaysian investors to encourage them for more investment in Bangladesh in the prospective areas. Malaysian business and investment proposals will be discussed at the meeting.
Malaysia has so far invested US$ 1.7 billion in 103 projects in Bangladesh, said the foreign minister.
Responding to a question on the huge trade gap between the two countries, Mahmood Ali said they will also focus on boosting export to Malaysia.
The bilateral trade between the two countries stood $2.20 billion in fiscal year 2013-2014. Bangladesh imported products worth $2.08 billion, while exported only $135 million.
