Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur (KL) are finally set to sign a memorandum of understanding (MoU) for setting up a 1320-MW coal-fired power plant in joint venture on Monday. As per the proposal, a consortium of Malaysian state-owned Tenega Nasional Berhad (TNB) and Powertek Barhad (PB) and Bangladesh's state-owned Power Development Board (PDB) will set up a joint-venture company on 50:50 equity basis at Maheshkhali, Chittagong. PDB officials said both the parties in Dhaka and Kuala Lumpur have finally reached consensus on the disputed issues and decided to sign the deal for the project on September 22, according to a news agency.
