Both Dhaka and Moscow have failed to complete negotiations to initial a deal which both sides termed the ‘third and final contract’ for the construction of Rooppur Nuclear Power Plant (NPP) project. According to official sources, the deal was scheduled to be inked by both sides on Wednesday in Dhaka, but they could not reach a conclusion on the terms and condition of it. A source said a deputy director of the Russian state nuclear agency Rosatom flew in Dhaka on Wednesday morning to sign the deal. The local press was invited to cover the deal signing programme. “But finally the press was informed that the deal won’t be signed on Wednesday as negotiation couldn’t be completed,” said an official representing Rosatom. The Rosatom top official is expected to leave Dhaka on Thursday without signing the deal, according to a news agency.
