Dhaka must focus on dev: Foreign Adviser

NEW YORK, Oct 05 (BSS): Foreign Adviser Iftekhar Ahmed Chowdhury, held a meeting with Asha-Rose Migiro, the Deputy Secretary General of the United Nations (UN) in her office Friday.
The Foreign Adviser told her that Bangladesh expressed the hope that the UN as an organisation would focus on development, which should be at the core of UN's activities.
The Deputy Secretary General lauded the leadership role of Bangladesh on various socio-economic issues, in particular climate change, food security and peacekeeping.
Later, in the evening Iftekhar Chowdhury met the Under Secretary General for Department of Political Affairs Lynn Pasco.
He briefed the Under Secretary General on the latest political developments in Bangladesh including the preparation to hold the general elections on December 18.
