Dhaka-N Bengal trains services resume

Dhaka's railway links with northern and southern districts, cut off following the derailment of an inter-city train on the Bangabandhu Bridge Sunday night, resumed on Monday, 17 hours after the accident.
The railway communications were resumed around 4pm Monday, OC of the Bangabandhu Bridge West Police Station Abdul Halim told bdnews24.com.
He said that the nine coaches of the Dinajpur-bound train that veered off the tracks Sunday night were salvaged around 4pm and the tracks repaired before services could resume.
Nine bogies of an intercity train derailed on the Bangabandhu Bridge over the Jamuna River Sunday night, snapping train communication between Dhaka and northern districts.
The commuter train, ‘Drutajan Express’, from Dhaka faced a stormy weather when it reached near pillar No 7 of the bridge around 11:15 pm resulting in nine of its coaches falling off the track.
