The World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry has named Dr Shahriar Hossain, Secretary General of Environment and Social Development Organization-ESDO, Bangladesh, and Steering Committee Member of IPEN, a US based Global NGO Network, as its vice-president for South Asia, reports UNB.
"We have selected Dr Shahriar Hossain at the most critical time in the history of the battle to get mercury out of dentistry," Charles Brown, president, World Alliance for Mercury-Free Dentistry said, according to a press release received in Dhaka from Washington Wednesday.
"South Asia is a crucial area for the transition to mercury-free dentistry, and we are delighted to have a man of Shahriar's intellectual and social skills to be our advocate to the governments, the NGOs, and the people of the region," UK dentist Graeme Munro-Hall, Chairman of the World Alliance's Transition and Training Task Force, said.
