Dhaka Division completed a victory inside just two days for their second straight victory in the ongoing National Cricket League (NCL) on Sunday.
The Day 2 of the sixth round of NCL also saw Amite Hasan continuing his rich vein of form while Naim Sheikh missed a well-deserved double century. Elsewhere Parvez Hossain Emon hit his maiden first class century, reports BSS.
Dhaka Division completed an innings and 11-run victory over Rajshahi inside just two days for their second straight victory at Shaheed Chandu Stadium in Bogura on Sunday.
Pacer Anamul Haque hastened the victory by claiming 5-54 as Rajshahi were bowled out for 128 in 30 overs in their second innings after resuming the day at 18-1.
The defeat of Rajshahi was on the card when they were bowled out for NCL lowest 42 runs in the first innings. Dhaka pacer Sumon Khan ripped through their batting line up with 7-18, including a hat-trick.
Sumon was unable to take any wicket in the second innings, finishing with 8-0-29-0 but that mattered little.
Anamul stood tall with five-for and was complemented by Ripon Mondol's 2-30 to scythe down Rajshahi with ease again.
Tanzid Hasan Tamim was the top-scorer for Rajshahi in the second innings with 38 while SM Mehrob Hossain made 26.
In another match, Amite Hasan continued his good work with the willow by hitting a half-century but Sylhet were unable to put them on top over Barishal Division at Sylhet International Cricket Stadium.
Following his double century and a century in the previous two matches, Amite who has been in radar of the national selectors scored 56 in this match.
Mubin Ahmed Dishan and Nasum Ahmed scored identical 53 to give Amite an ample support as Sylhet Division reached 217-6 at stumps.
Sylhet are now trailing by 87 runs as Barishal were bowled out for 304 in its first innings.
Both opener Pinak Ghosh and Taifuq Khan Tushar got a start but couldn't convert it to a big knock, being out for 20 and 29 runs respectively.
Amite then shared 46-run with Mubin and 91-run with Nasum to help the side go past 200.
However Amite and Nasum were departed for just one run, which eventually handed Barishal the baton.
Meanwhile, opener Parvez Hossain Emon hit his maiden first class century but his side Chattogram failed to take complete control over Khulna Division at Sylhet Academy Ground. Emon struck 107 off 139 with 19 fours and one six as Chattogram put up 220 in its first innings after resuming the Day 2 at 31 for no loss.
By doing so, Chattogram took just 16 runs lead against Khulna, which were bowled out for 204 in its own first innings. Khulna then ended the day at 56-1 by taking an overall 40 runs lead. Anamul Haque Bijoy was batting on 37 with Ariful Islam Akash yet to open the account when the bails were drawn for Day 2. Amit Mojumder was dismissed for 18.
In another game, opener Naim Sheikh missed out a double century but Dhaka Metro kept them aloft over Rangpur Division at Cox's Bazar Academy Ground.
Naim who started the Day 2 with 153 runs, looked to be destined for what could have been his maiden double ton in the first class cricket. But he was able to add just 27 runs to his overnight total to be out on 180.
After resuming the day at 276-2, Dhaka Metro were finally bowled out for 475 with Tahjibul Islam and Marshall Ayub adding 73 and 61 runs respectively.
Al-Amin Junior later made a quick 44 runs to give the scoreboard a pace.
Ariful Haque claimed three wickets while Robiul Haque grabbed two wickets for Rangpur.
