FE Report
Dhaka stocks closed slightly lower Sunday on profit taking but amid higher turnover.
Trading on the Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE) was in the positive territory for the first four and half hours of the trade, pushing the premier index up around 20 points. Later, it turned to the red due to profit taking towards close of the trade.
The market barometers-- the benchmark DSE General Index (DGEN) and All Shares Price Index (DSI) -- shed 5.01 points and 2.73 points to close at 3087.03 and 2609.45 respectively.
However, DSE-20 (DS 20), comprising blue chips, gained slightly by 0.18 points to end at 2375.48.
The investors passed a good day as they ran into some profit taking, which pushed the market into the negative territory, said a capital market analyst. But the market remained bullish as the transaction increased due to corporate disclosures by some companies, he added.
After several days, the total turnover crossed the Tk 3.0 billion- mark and it rose to Tk 3.26 billion from previous trading day's Tk 2.80 billion. Out of 140 issues traded on the day, 122 declined, 106 advanced and 12 remained unchanged.
