Dhaka stocks see robust gain

Dhaka stocks Thursday ended the last session before the vacation of Eid-ul-Azha with a robust gain.
The insiders said normally the market faced sell pressures before the Eid festivals observed earlier.
"The performance which has been observed in buyers' end ahead of this Eid-ul-Azha has created optimism about the normalcy of the capital market," IDLC Investments said in its market bulletin.    
DSE broad index Thursday rose 1.63 per cent or 84.45 points to close at 5237.72 points on Dhaka Stock Exchange (DSE).
DSE Shariah Index (DSES) also went up by 0.42 per cent or 5.11 points to close at 1219.24 points, whereas the DSE30 Index posted a gain of 0.38 per cent or 7.59 points to close at 1993.16 points.
Among 301 traded issues, 251 advanced, 42 declined and the remaining 8 remained unchanged on the premier bourse.
End of the day's trading session, the turnover value stood at Tk 9.37 billion which 4.03 per cent less than the value observed in previous session.
According to the market bulletin of BRAC EPL, among the large cap sectors Banks and NBFIs have appreciated the most by posting a gain of 4.44 per cent and 2.56 per cent respectively.


Power sector posted a skimpy gain of 0.47 per cent, whereas Telecommunication and Food and Allied went down by 0.95 per cent and 0.90 per cent respectively.
Titas Gas topped the liquidity chart accumulating a total turnover of Tk 389.8 million.
Other turnover leaders were Delta Life Insurance, Square Pharma, Familytex (BD), Grameenphone, MJL Bangladesh, Peoples Leasing and Financial Services, Jamuna Oil, City Bank and Lafarge Surma Cement.
The day's top ten gainers were: Familytex (BD), First Lease Finance and Investment, Islamic Finance and Investment, IPDC, Far East Knitting and Dyeing Industry, City Bank, Fas Finance and Investment, Asia Insurance, Global Insurance and Islami Insurance Bangladesh.
The DSE officials said Thursday's trading session was the last session ahead of vacation of Eid-ul-Azha. And trading in both the bourses will resume on October 12 this year.
On Thursday the benchmark index on Chittagong Stock Exchange (CSE) went up by 223.96 points to close at 16126.71 points.
Among 224 traded issues, 183 advanced, 39 declined and the two remained unchanged on the port city bourse.
