Dhaka-Sylhet rail link restored after 9-hr

The movement of train movement on Dhaka-Sylhet route resumed on Friday morning after 9 hours of suspension following derailment of a compartment of a an inter-city train at Noapara Rail Station in Madhabpur upazila of Habiganj district. Railway sources said a bogie of Sylhet-bound ‘Paharika Express’ from Chittagong veered off the tracks at about 8:30pm on Thursday, halting train movement on the important route. However, no casualty was reported. Being informed, two salvage trains from Akhaura and Kulaura rushed to the spot and restored the train service around 5:40am today. Besides, four trains including ‘Kalni Express’, ‘Upaban Express’ and ‘Udayon Express’ remained stranded in different rail stations following the derailment, according to UNB.
